Doing a holiday market in Opelousas, Louisiana. The skull and haunted doll are to show that these are not joyful holiday books.

Back home after an eventful two weeks in Ireland and Scotland. I also wrote over ten thousand words towards my Ireland paranormal novel.
Now my cats are trying to climb into my face.

Hello, Atlanta! While I would love to spend an afternoon trying (again) to steal a river otter from your fantastic aquarium, I know that your docents are diligent and also kind of rude.
I’ll be flying out tomorrow, late Delta flights wholly responsible.

The flight from Edinburgh to JFK was delayed, cascading to a missed flight to Atlanta and on to Louisiana.
Shuffling flights now.
I can’t miss work tomorrow as there are vaguely important things for me to be around or something.

Maybe YOU “mind the gap when alighting from the train”!
I may have gone to public school in America but I’m pretty sure we fought a whole war about minding gaps and alighting from trains.

Stay on the road! Keep clear of the moors!

Isle of Skye again.
Smoked haddock is a weird breakfast and very difficult to keep lit.

When I get home from Scotland the first thing I’m going to do is fill a bunch of glasses with ice and just shake them to hear the sound.

Closed for a wedding but I still went to the gift shop and peed. #travel

Writing update for anyone that followed me for that stuff:
Finished my fourth novel in pubs and hotels in Ireland and sent it to my editor. I’m five chapters into the fifth novel, which is so far 100% written in pubs and hotels in Ireland and Scotland.

On the way to Isle of Skye. I keep pulling over to talk to the furry cows because I don’t want to seem rude.

Don’t tell me what to do, Inverness.

Another picture from Culloden today.

On our way to Inverness. I hope they sell whiskey there.

Cullen Skink is less skinky than I had expected.

This Scottish hotel is definitely haunted. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ravens on top of Leap Castle.

Tomorrow morning I’m leaving Ireland to annoy you all with pictures of Scotland instead.
I have a problematic amount of pictures of whiskey which I have not shared.
For the good of society.

I’m in Cashel. Casheling, I guess.

No relation, but I’d hug any one of you.

The Burrens. Where you can just stop on the highway and wander around taking pictures while your rental car sits there with the doors open wailing about how you forgot about Dre because your curated playlist was fucked up by AI.
Something something natural splendor.

Yesterday I wrote 4,000 words across three pubs and finished my fourth novel.
For anyone that has read Murmurs of the River of No Return, this is the follow up, set in Chicago.
I say many things about Chicago and some of those things are even kind.
Also, ghosts happen.

Power’s John’s Lane Edition with TWO ice cubes, which is possibly 40% of the total number of ice cubes in Ireland.

Torc Falls.
Afterwards I drank a problematic amount of whiskey.
This was a net positive for literature, people.
