Citizen of Derry city, Ireland.

Journalist. Music and sports fan.
The DUP has been slinging mud all day and questioning others.

The Education Dept changed its website since this morning as it showed major works are those in excess of £500k - now no figure.

EA has retracted a blatant falsehood about the pitch being out of action for 6 years.

This funding is treating Derry as if it's basically on a par with small towns.

That wouldn't be as bad if Stormont delivered the big-picture items: infrastructure; university expansion; decentralisation of decision-making.

But it hasn't, therefore, this is tinkering.

Move up to further and higher education.
Derry is utterly failed!

Derry is the only city of its size this islands without a proper university - that is one with at least 20,000 students.

But here Belfast gets 83% of uni students. Doesn't happen anywhere else.

If UU can't stand firm on a photo of people wearing GAA jerseys, what are they going to do when the momentum inevitably builds, AGAIN, to deny university expansion in Derry?

Because for now it's all talk, obstacles are coming when money has to be paid out, that's a cold fact!

The data makes for stark reading:

96% of ammonia and nitrogen deposition comes from agriculture.

Highest pollution levels in UK.

Every habitat from bogs and coastal waters, to grasslands and woodlands badly damaged.

Every species declining - 11% under threat of extinction.

Very informative analysis and visualisation based on data collected since October 2023 which 'reveals the near-total destruction of civilian life in Gaza'.

Happy New Year to the real ones 🙂.

As I use social media mainly for work I'd like to thank the sound people who have taken the time to share a story or interact with me on here. I genuinely value and appreciate it.

Let's strive for a 2025 where all lives are valued equally.

Dún na nGall

One of those days where you get the winter coat on for a walk on the beach and hold onto your woolly hat.

Both banks of the Foyle are twinkling.

A very Derry Christmas 🎄

Like the new anti-theft measure on the Guildhall tree. Don't even think about yoinking a bauble after a night out this year, it ain't happening.

A number of MPs, including @zarahsultana.bsky.social , and campaigners have called for a ban on the sale of F-35 parts as they say the jets are being used in an 'extermination campaign'.

Appears to have happened in the case of the current UU Vice Chancellor based on a financial report from the time he was appointed 👇
