About 2 years ago Dusty became the last of the 'barn crew' and I couldn't see her spend her time alone so...
This is her last night at the farm and her first day in the guest room. I think she figured it out quickly.

Wow, Ernestine is lucky to have you. I think Peanut might have made it to 19 or so also. She was inside all her life and was small enough to sleep under my chin. I think about my age and health then the subject of a new life to care for.
Meanwhile, I have her friend Dusty, to keep me going. 😉

A week ago or so I had to say goodbye to my best friend, Peanut. She hurt her leg beyond any help. She lived with me for 12 years. I never became so close to any little creature before.
Now every shadow, every small noise in the house is her. How does anyone cope with this loss? I hurt so much.
