The game’s writing would always be messy politically cause of the lib shit, but even the more personal stuff is hurt by the fact you can go from a major character’s funeral to a quest about some dude’s malfunctioning sex toy with little attempt to merge the two tones together.

I think the game has another major problem which is that it also struggles between wanting to be a sincere RPG discussing big topics and doing irreverent GTA shit and that hurts both the gameplay and the writing to different degrees.

Very understandable. Truly bizarre how so many conversations about fiction eventually just devolve into trying to find progressive reasons to justify a lack of interest in women’s stories and an unending obsession with men.

Sadly, not just a reddit thing. There are so many het shippers obsessed with the mythical "Chinese incel players" who are apparently preventing all hints of m/f romance in these games and that's why it's actually super progressive to be mad that women mostly interact with other women in these games.

It's crazy how people seem to write off Dimitri ending his story with a wife and child (a male child at that) regardless of his paired ending as just IS being silly, and not an intentional writing choice to support the themes of the game.
