If a military conflict had broken out, or there were a major terrorist attack, these news organizations would be flooding the zone. They would explain how each development fits into a whole. Otherwise, readers just shake their heads at all the craziness, or worse, tune out. 8/n

Over the last few days, it’s become clear that factions within the Trump admin (e.g. Musk, the Project 2025 crew) are attempting to illegally gain control of the centers of power, in part by attempting to illegally “fire” civil servants. 3/n

Journalists owe readers a clear picture of what is happening and the context. I get that this feels hard when the topic is the US government, but the duty is still there. 2/n
