I should note I am in favour of legislation to stop exploitative use of zero hours contacts. Not sure exactly what that looks like but I’m sure it’s possible

Yeah that’s right. Lots of people don’t like the idea of doing their own taxes etc. plus as an employee, after 12 weeks they are entitled to holiday pay and other workers rights even on a zero hour contract

I can give it a go. The company I work for provides one to one tutors for kids with autism. We have 15 permanent staff on the books full time but one client who lives in the middle of nowhere and only has 6hrs p/w. If we lose that client we can’t afford to keep the staff member so she is 0 hrs

lol good point. Mind you more people identifying as “strong democrats” doesn’t mean they have drifted left necessarily. It means they have become more partisan no? It seems to me that the centrists have consolidated power within Dem leadership since 2020?

I just find this a bit difficult to buy when at the last competitive pres primaries, Dem voters voted in the guy who’s pitch was “nothing will fundamentally change” guy and R’s voted in the “mass deportations, end birthright citizenship and give huge tax cuts to the wealthy” guy 🤷♂️

Genuine question… who gets define how far left a certain policy is? Also, do they make a distinction between economically left wing and culturally left wing!
