i got into DJ python's more recent work because of the droopy, synth-heavy atmospheres, but never really thought to go back to the early stuff. incredible percussion on this album. it's full of glowing pads, but the shifting dembow drums are the star here. ambient club jams.

i usually like the al.divino x estee nack projects, but this might be their best. it’s fully produced by mutant academy’s graymatter, who provides the indica-scented fog these dudes gleefully get lost in. very vibey, sometimes vaguely threatening mafioso rap.

this candlelit LP is a perfect example of rhythm as drone. james constructs incredibly knotty percussion patterns and wraps them in warm, reverberant drones. it feels like an emotional exercise, or perhaps exorcism. gorgeous ambient technoish, r&bish, popish tunes.
