Finally starting to look like summer! This is today's harvest: squash, peppers, cukes (first ones), eggplant (also first), a few beans, and the very last of the turnips.

I will continue to evangelize for Romanesco squash: it's like zucchini, but way better flavor, and even the biggest are tasty. 🌱

The border in full bloom. Catmint in front, yellow yarrow in the back . 🌱

Catmint in full bloom. It was full of bees, but I didn't manage to get one in the picture. 🌱

Tomatoes in pots on our first really sunny day in a week, which is quite unusual for us here in Colorado. 🌱. The black pots hold the warmth and allow me to plant 7-10 days earlier than in the main garden.

Pink climbing rose loves the cool wet weather 🌱

Poppies popping! They don't last long! 🌱

The apricot roses start out orange and fade to yellow. This is as uniform as the color ever gets, cuz after this, there will always be some yellow ones mixed in. But I love them. 🌱

Very first rose of the season. Apricot fading to yellow over a few days. 🌱

They've gone by now, but the species tulips were gorgeous this year. 🌱

My very first irises of the season. Not all irises are fragrant, but these are heavenly. Which is why I cut them to bring inside. They make the whole room smell delightful. 🌱

Early blooms along the border 🌱

Spring is sprung and the Viburnum is doing its thing.... 🌱

I'm visiting Paris (France) on vacation.

Saw a bright yellow shrub that turns out to be a *bachelor's button*. 🌱

I want one!

It might be too wet where you are. I use ice plants (Colorado) and they're great. Comes in various colors (the blooms). Here's one in magenta. I also have some yellow and an off-white. 🌱

As the days get longer, the cold frames lettuce resumes growing. Transplanted a bunch a few days ago, in always end up with clumps that need thinning.

Yup

Even in the midst of winter, things in the cold frames are moving along slowly.

Would you buy a federal budget from a man who makes cars that do this?

I understand this is the new Google Maps page if you put -truth after your search terms.

Not much to see yet, but the lettuces in my cold frames have sprouted. Day 12 after they were planted, with a "nourmal" germination time of 7-10 days. And it's consistently in the mid-20s overnight. You can see that the cold frames do have an effect. 🌱

Finished up the cold frames yesterday. They have chard, started in pots, various succulents that were supposed to be planted earlier 😂😂, and now lettuces seeded this weekend. 🌱

Getting my cold frames in order. The one already in place is being used as a nursery for things I didn't get planted in time, mostly sedum (stonecrop). There lettuce seed in the blank space, but it hasn't germinated yet. The second frame goes on tomorrow. 🌱

We've had a breeding pair of hawks return to our neighborhood several years running. There are usually 2 babies. This is one of them, hatched in late March or April. Not a great pic but maybe you can tell how big s/he is. Even now, the juvvies make the funniest noises - little squeaks/whines 🪶

Harvested 41 small spaghetti squash. They look like mini-pumpkins, except they're not lobed.

Haven't cooked any yet. Supposedly they need to cure for about 10 days....

Haven't grown these before - I'll report in once we taste the results!
