I'd love it if the main characters just kept dying and being replaced by another actor, but everything carries on as normal and it's never brought up.

Spec wise it depends on budget and what they want to play, but for higher end games I'd look at a 4070/4080 and an i9 with a good amount of cores (8+)

A lot of the modern 'gaming' laptops as they're marketed are more focused on AI, so ask where you buy from over this since they like to hide it. Also as nice as it is to have a lightweight or slim laptop, avoid them, the fans are prone to breaking, and they do a terrible job of cooling.
