That larger pillar isn't part of the achievement. The floor in that room is a map of Suramar and the big pillar represents the Nightwell. It never lights up. If you're missing any of the other 8 small ones, the achievement should tell you which one.

Agreed. They’re a great addition, especially for people like me who love hunting all the quest and exploration achievements of each patch.
