(2/2) Using two #LargeEnsembles from the #DAMIP archive, we estimate UK summer heat-deaths under factual (all forcings) vs. counterfactual scenarios (natural-only, GHG-only, aerosols-only). We quantify the time of emergence (ToE) of climate signals on heat-deaths by forcing type.

(1/2) About 700 annual heat deaths (1961–1980) were avoided by aerosol cooling. Then, rising GHGs + reduced aerosols drove sharp increases. Projections show a 2–6-fold increase in heat deaths through GHGs by 2100. However, we did not look into the positive health impacts of aerosol reductions!
