Thanks for the extra reply! I think at this point we’ll have to agree to disagree :) I’ve been doing animation in unreal across a few different projects now, including an in production feature film. So it is absolutely possible, but I also do agree there is always room for improvement.

Cool 👍 care to elaborate? I’m genuinely keen to help people learn, have been trying to improve adoption for UE animation for years now

Getting animators to learn UE is the only real barrier left, UE not being good enough or not having the right controls etc doesn’t hold water anymore :)

Control rig has been the best rigging context of any software for a while now. For the actual keyframe animation you could have argued it was lacking in some regards prior to 5.6, but at this point there just isn’t anything better (Maya, Blender, Houdini etc included).

It’s strange that options for private/company group messaging feels like it’s just going backwards. I tied a lot of options recently and while some were ok for text, being able to start group calls with screen sharing was a necessity and hard to find a good solution for.

I had an issue many years ago that plagued me for a while, turns out it was the fan on the side of my case generating static electricity, removed the fan and problems went away.

Nice, have you by chance tested vulkan lumen recently and seen if it’s still clamping 32bit outputs to 16bit? 😅

There was definitely a lot of bug fixes in 5.5.4 compared to 5.5.0. My project absolutely needs lumen and TSR, with the set of requirements I have. Glad you don’t have those issues to deal with as well!

It’s interesting, I had a project started in 5.3 and tried it in 5.4 but had all sorts of problems so kept to 5.3. Recently switched to 5.5 and it’s massively improved a lot of issues, particularly around lumen and TSR. I guess it really depends what features are critical to the project!

Another year that I won’t be able to make it, hopefully at least once before the end of the decade!

Yeah if it’s stable then it’s probably the boost! One other thermal issue I had in the beginning was the case I was using had terrible airflow, when I swapped it out that also dramatically improved things.

What cooler are you using? I went through a few with mine but now running a noctua NH-U14S (there are variants specific for threadripper sockets) with 2 fans on it and it’s been stable.

Nice, hopefully also first step to towards matching the nvrtx caustics branch

The service will be virtually the same with all of them. But the quality of support when things do go down I think is the most important thing to look for. I’ve not been very happy with iPrimus in that regard…
