I played Investigations 2 and the Great Ace Attorney games in Japanese so it's been a long time for me. I was late to Great Ace Attorney 2, finally got around to it in 2020 but it's been nothing for me since then

This is how it was for me growing up in a major California city. School ended mid-June, started late August. Always confused me that the "Summer movie season" started in May until I learned that in most other places school ended earlier.

While this is true, you should still mod your 3DS, not for piracy purposes but for region free-ness, ROM hacks, and fun homebrew!

Woke 2.0 is going to have killing nazis as a median, unexciting desire, and this game will probably feel toothless because of it

It was definitely bolstered by discourse in Nintendo communities, but like, it did outsell something like SMT Nocturne that gets talked about way more now.

I'm also focusing on western game communities, if we count Japan then DQ8 was a much bigger deal of course

Tales of Symphonia introduced an entire generation of Nintendo-only teens to JRPGs and was one of the most talked about JRPGs of its era, probably a bigger deal than anything not FFX or KH. Now it's just one entry in an extremely B-tier franchise

You don't like Nuts and Bolts because it doesn't play like OG Banjo-Kazooie

I don't like Nuts and Bolts because I don't enjoy games where the conceit gameplay loop relies on your own creativity because I have none

We are not the same

Tekken 7 was only out in Japanese arcades, DOA5 was the second revision the game had

For the record I actually have the annoying "actually both sides of this debate are wrong because both styles of game are good and Nintendo should alternate between them" opinion

While this is true, I think that attitude would have not been as prominent if TP and SS were, like, more universally beloved. Both of those games have major pacing issues and one of them is designed around a very divisive control scheme.

I grew up Catholic and my mom taught Sunday school. Her Sunday school "coworker" was married to a man who worked for Microsoft's Xbox department and frequently tried to sell her on getting various first-party Xbox games and accessoriesfor me

I think a lot of people thought it was mechanically simplistic/style over substance compared to contemporary FPS games. I remember reading someone lament that it was used as a template for a lot of future games instead of Deus Ex

I definitely had several hundred on the original Wii and PSP back in the day, by Wii U I was an adult who had a laptop and smartphone

I haven't played the remake, and I think it looks unremarkable at best and bad at worst, but honestly this is a green flag for me because it's such a weird opinion that it makes me wonder what else they think.

Nintendo actually did hire Tomohiro Kawaze, who worked on iNES and then went on to work on the Animal Crossing NES emulator and the Wii VC emulators. EA also hired the creator of Nesticle who developed an officially licensed SNES followup for the Gamecube Fight Night Round 2.
