Blue Prince is not for everyone and I will not solve every puzzle, but it is a refreshing take on the puzzle genre and I really enjoyed my time with it.

My only advice for those who are having a hard time with the RNG is don't fixate on a specific puzzle. Let the runs dictate the puzzles you solve

What an honor to be a answer on the mini crossword

Day late but wanted to reflect on Groundhogs Day and look back at the greatest time loop games of all time.

My vote is for the Outer Wilds. If anyone was ever curious about this game I can not recommend it enough! Puzzle, exploration, mystery I have never played anything like it!

The last SEGA developed game to win #GotY was Virtua Fighter 2 (1995)

SEGA has had a ton of recent success with publishing Game of the Year winners/contenders especially with the team at Atlus

What's the opposite of a speedrun?

I finally beat Hollow Knight after buying it the week of release... Trying to focus on my backlog this year and that was #1 on my list.

WR: 249,751,409 seconds

Have to watch the VODs to see were I can save some time on my next run

Early prediction for #GotY for each platform 2025

The Sims (2000) won #GoTY from many outlets including Gamespot

It became one of the best selling games of all times with 11 million copies sold, which at the time was the most by any PC game.

It currently sits #12 on all time sales with a little over a 1/4 of the sales of PUBGs 44 million!

Most people believe the first horror game to ever receiver #GotY was Doom 3 (2004)

Those people are wrong, the first was Pac-Man (1981)

Setting: Endless maze
Psychological horror: Being hunted
Monsters: Ghost with unique behavior patterns

Pac-man is a horror game!

The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past (1991/1992) only received one #GotY award from the Chicago Tribune which it shared with Street Fighter 2 (1992)

Okami (2006) despite having a Metacritic rating of 93 did not receive any #GotY awards. It was released in October on PS2 in NA just a couple a months before the PS3 and the Xbox360 was already on store shelves.

Although another PS2 game did receive a few #GotY awards
Final Fantasy XII

Over the years The Game Awards have had many indie games nominated for #GotY, Inside (2016), Celeste (2018), Hades (2020)

One nominee that is not often thought about as an Indie game was PlayersUnknown's: Battlegrounds (2017) which popularized the Battle Royal genre

Was 2014 the weakest year in modern gaming history?

Game of the year winners included Dragon Age: inquisition, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and Dark Souls 2... Not bad games but looking back over the past 10 years it has to be one of the weaker groups

The only developer to win multiple #GotY awards at The Game Awards is FromSoftware. With Elden Ring (2022) and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (2019)

They are also nominated this year with Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, which is the first DLC to be nominated

2024 is the first year since 2018 that no Nintendo-published game received a #GotY nomination at The Game Awards.

Although a game released in 2018 Super Smash Brothers Ultimate (December 9th) did go on to get a nomination in 2019.

Nintendo has received 10 nominations and won #GotY once

Sports games don’t often take home #GotY, but Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 (Gamespots 2000 GotY) and Wii Sports (TIMEs 2006 GotY) both achieved it. Tony Hawk set a new standard for skateboarding games, while Wii Sports redefined gaming with its motion controls and accessibility

Spike TVs first #GotY was Madden 04!? I am curious how that vote went @geoffkeighley.bsky.social

The most surprising fact is that isn't the only time Madden was recognized as GotY, John Madden Football (1990) received the award for 16-bit consoles by Golden Joystick Awards

The Sega Saturn never had a #GotY winner, but its most celebrated game is Panzer Dragoon Saga (1998). It was a tough year to shine with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Half-Life released that same year

In 1997, one of the strongest years in gaming history, it wasn’t Final Fantasy VII, GoldenEye, or Castlevania: Symphony of the Night that won Game of the Year from @gamespot.com, but Total Annihilation. Often considered one of, if not the greatest, RTS games of all time

In 1995, Chrono Trigger lost Game of the Year to action-heavy hits like Twisted Metal and Virtual Fighter 2. While its storytelling and RPG mechanics are legendary today, the 3D innovation and multiplayer focus of the winners reflected the gaming trends of that era

Recency bias doesn't seem to help games released in December, very few have ever been recognized as GotY. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was released in December in Japan, but did have a November NA release.

Halo Infinite released in early December, but had a Multiplayer beta in October

In honor of Sony's 30th Anniversary: The first Sony-Published Game to ever be recognized as game of the year by any publication was Gran Turismo (1998) by MobyGames.
