I asked Marie-Philip Poulin what is the same and what's different during the Team Canada training block, and the answer applies to her entire career in 2025-26:

As Canada works on finalizing its Olympic roster, coach Troy Ryan said, "we'll be taking 25 right now to the Rivalry Series, but with the intention of dressing 23 per game." The practices in Montreal have seen small groups break off to work on skills but are not an sign yet of who's on the bubble.

Which side won the first "battle of the expansion teams?" Are you a fan of the Vancouver blue/copper or the Seattle teals? Note that both have 'cream' colored away jerseys - making three of the eight PWHL teams who rock that instead of white. #pwhl

Which expansion team won the jersey battle? I think Seattle is the clear winner. Clean and more in line with the tone of their main color. I am warming up to the copper orange on the Vancouver sweater, but I just think it wasn't necessary. There's a lot of orange and gold added to PWHL core colors.

After Canada's training in Toronto, Troy Ryan mentioned players are still on the team's radar as the PWHL season starts. He spoke about players like Jamie Lee Rattray, Ashton Bell, and Jaime Bourbonnais as examples of those who are still on the radar of Canada's management.

"People will always remember how you made them feel," are words that stuck with Marie-Philip Poulin as she took on a leadership role with Canada. She still lives by that philosophy making sure new players feel welcome, even reporters like me get a handshake and a 'thank you.' #special

A viewer question for PWHL Seattle’s first-round draft pick Jenna Buglioni in the Puck Drop podcast was, “Now that you’re in the PWHL, who’s one defender or goalie you’re most curious to test yourself against?”
Can you guess who she chose? Hint: she chose two PWHL Award winners.
