And then pastors wonder why people (women especially) are leaving the church. Why we're saying churches are mostly unsafe for women.

Sent in a resignation letter. Came out, too, that the pastor was planning on putting me under church discipline.

Yesterday he finally sent an email saying he'd bring it up at the members meeting and tell any future pastors I'd left under "unresolved church discipline"

I started having a panic attack, told him, and he doubled down. Ended the meeting by telling him I'd contact him when I was ready to meet again. 3.5 months later, he contacted me "insisting" I come in so he and the church could help me with "right thinking".

Asked to meet a second time. I agreed. Complete 180 and told me biblically I had no ground for divorce, that I'd always be "one-flesh" with my abuser, and if I ever wanted to get married in the future, the ex would be my only option. ready to meet again.

Some backstory: I told my STBX I needed a divorce. Pastor asked to meet with me, so hoping to reach him to help someone in the future, I agreed. He surprised me by listening and agreeing and understanding that, because of emotional abuse and sexual coercion I needed a divorce.

Proving that far-right Christian pastors don't actually care about the people they're supposed to "shepherd" he has said that if, in the future, I want to join a new church, he'll inform that pastor that I left this church under "unresolved Church discipline issues."
