Its really just to do government stuff, since in this country 10million places ask for your ssn to get anything done. Of course, they cannot get benefits from it since you have to retire to do that

This is slightly misinformation. Asylum seekers can apply for an SSN, but it is a restricted SSN which says “Not Valid For Work” or “Only Valid For Work With DHS Authorization”
