You are right there. I have the "read what was written by SCOTUS" value system which is clearly different than yours.
I don't defend anything. Direct democracy doesn't work logistically. Calling me a fascist is hardly an argument against that.

The case wasnt about whether or not states get to "decide for themselves" it gave states the power to force electors to stick with the program. Only a conspiracy detective could see something other than that.

No. The Supreme Court recentlt ruled electorsbaren't free agents. Most states have laws that bind electors as well. There have beem roughly a couple dozen faithless electors in the past century but they usually got hammered by their party and never swung a vote.

But the electoral college is a bit redundant and hard to defend morally since it wasn't designed to protect smaller states, per se, but slave states which had the smallest white populations.
