The next day, after 15 inches of snow, a 24hr power cut and no 4g, ...the non-edible, rescue sheep are tucking into hay after a muesli breakfast.

Of course, it all went a bit over their heads except for snow - they hate snow, ...and rain, which is coming tomorrow...

This morning's misty interlude before more snow arrives in the mysterious Welsh Marches.

Today: Distant sun-kissed, snow-capped, Welsh hills caught with a zoom lens. In the foreground, the fir trees shiver in the shadows.

With the aid of a flashlight, I can see we have some settled snow. Not much and not as much as this photo of my lane from 2018 when I discovered the true value of snow shovels ...and socks!

A naked winter tree has carved a niche at the bottom of this frosted landscape. A variety of farm buildings are nestled in the hills, whose tops are warmed by an early sun - an occasional but welcome visitor at this time of the year.

Snowflakes falling from a winter sky, pine trees jostling to pose, little dogs bark and little cats snark, while children big and small dance like Eskimos.

A winding path cuts through the valley, leading to distant hills, during an all too brief break in the clouds.

A frozen landscape of hills and shivering trees, glinting bluey-white with frost, under a warming sky glowing with the pale orange of sunrise.

An intense Boxing Day sunrise over a snowy Herefordshire landscape. I had to snap this scene as quickly as possible because Stanley the bull was approaching fast from the right. 😬

A snowy track runs alongside a wire fence, disappearing into the distance behind a crop of fir trees.

This snowy ridgeway, which runs for miles, is a fun place for a festive snowy walk. The sun, struggling to break through snow-filled clouds, made for an interesting picture.

It was quite dark when I snapped this tiny crescent moon suspended in a delicate pink sky at sunrise, with a little landscape tacked on the bottom.

Shivering trees, on a winter morning, are shedding their rusty coloured leaves onto the hillside, glistening white after a sharp December frost.

The snow lies, fallen on the field, crisp under cold foot falling on the deep compaction of purest white below a frozen sky tinted with the promise of a winter sunrise.

December, 2012: Entering Ludlow Castle, snapped with a Nikon p7000 CCD camera. I loved using that camera. You can still buy these old cameras with real knobs and dials - perfect for those with twiddly fingers.

Another December pic taken in 2011 on a GR Digital 3.

A snow-covered landscape. Tyre tracks disappear into the distance, where a crop of pine trees huddle beneath a cloudy sky with just a hint of blue.

The first of my December picture series, spanning 16 years:

2009: An ancient snow-covered drover's track, overlooking distant Welsh and Shropshire hills, taken with a diminutive, 'Contax U4R' camera.
