Sorry for butting in.
We have not taken a single dime from sales since the end of 2018 where Coilworks shut down active development. But we are still working on Cloudbuilt, Super Cloudbuilt, + more whenever we can (not as a job sadly). So, yes, we would and we are making the same games too!

If we consider a paused moment like this in time, it's often quite unique, and it will be very hard to get an exact one like it again.

Imagine lining up everything perfectly, having the coolest moment right there.
Just for the character to have half opened eyes as they randomly happened to blink...

Personally I was actually heavily inspired by Megaman X2 as one of my favorite 2D performers when we made Cloudbuilt. When I added the combo moves like dash jumping I was thinking of how fun that was to do in X2. But we went a more momentum based rout of course, and 3D.

It's the same with games. I prefer Y up, but it's just a matter of perspective. If you see the 2D game base as a side scrolled like Mario, or a top down game like Zelda.
The early fps games moved around a map, more like Zelda. So, them thinking of it like an actual map, but added depth makes sense.

Do you mean some custom feed? Would be curious to have a good custom feed for art.

But you should not listen to me on this really 😁 You should just do what you think looks the best/ suits what you want to create

Realistic water can still be green. Likely indicating that it's old and not moving.
But to me the foam on the green one looks strange and sharp. (And moats don't usually have that moving water... so to me foam looks strange. But most people might not think of it. It might just me be. )

I think the realistic one looks a bit empty. Might be related to the reflections not being correct. It's reflecting the sun but not the castle wall right next to it, no shadows and no indication of depth. But I don't think you need to try to go for photo realism. Just something suiting the style.

As far as I know it is a bit unusual Norwegian name, but I'm not an expert. A quick search indicates the old version of the name is Dagfinnr, or Dagfidr, but any spelling should be fine. It's not like the vikings used our letters anyway.
(The ending with r feels older and more viking to me)

In Sweden it was pretty much always the father's name. Patronym as it's called. It was a thing in many cultures and exists even today but not in Sweden. I think to be more correct you should add an s after Dagfinn. So it's Dagfinnsdotter.

Hey!
We met the first time many years ago at the eurogamer expo in London (probably 2013?), and you played a pre-release version of Cloudbuilt.
Not sure if it counts, but I do what I can to do cool stuff. Though I'm sadly not very active on here... Yet! I hope to be when I find time.

I must admit that adding asynchronous texture loading to this old engine was a bit of a hack, but as texture loading made up more than half of the active loading time, it was well worth it.

On a related topic, I sometimes actually prefer email notifications 😅 as I can then add custom filters based on text patterns and filter them out in more detail. Wish that was possible for notifications on apps at an OS level...

Agree, but most websites still want to collect and do all the same things too... It depends, but I actually prefer apps at times. I just have to agree to as little info sharing as possible and block notifications. At least with categories for notifications on the OS level it makes it more manageable
