I am still interested in this topic and started reading this newish text. Does anyone have any other recommendations or course materials? This book and material in the corporate and business tax world. BTW, I think I was in Bronwyn’s first grad econometrics course that she taught at Berkeley. 😉

Wellesley Braham - Never Get Weary/Version - roots music from the late 70s reissued in 2023. Classic JA sounds. At one point, this is what reggae music sounded like. Classic.

From 2019. If you like modern soul music in the vain of Daptone or Penrose records, then this release on Timmion Records (based in Finland!) is a must. Sweet soul and funky sounds. Enjoy. I need to explore this label more.

From 2000. This came as part of a collection I bought from a collector. I missed this originally. If you like melodic pop music, Parasol is a great label to explore.

Fantastic Midwest power pop from this Iowa duo. I get a Raspberries vibe. Hard not to like this collection from the opening song (Long Way To Go). If you like power pop (even a little), you will love this collection! Kool Kat Records.

Jah Fingers has reissued some crucial roots music on 12" The mighty Ijahman Levi with Moulding and the A and Africa on the AA side. Strictly a rootsman session. Give praises to Jah Fingers.

In case you think modern soul does not hit as hard 60s soul, well this set should set you straight. On the Kent Dance label from 2003. This is the first volume. Need to get them all!

Stunning release. If you like your pop dreamy...if you like to shoegaze...Mo Dotti is it...female vocals over gorgeous melodies...this CD combines two EPs, Blurring (2020) and Guided Imagery (2022). Superb.

Who needs the Plugz? You do. Live from the Kit Kat Club, November 1982. Self released CD. Historic LA band with great songs. Soon after, they added a guitar player and became The Cruzados!

Inspiral Carpets. I should have been into them from the start. Better late than never. I need to buy their catalog. 60s influence and farfisa organ. Great stuff. This is from 2023.

Studio One reggae...the label of labels of Jamaican music. Yes, great, crucial reggae appeared on other labels for sure, but Studio One releases just sound the best. I cut my teeth with 70s reggae music and Studio One. A must have. From 2012. If you know, you know.

The Umbrellas on Slumberland Records from 2023. Pure jangly-pop. Great melodies with male and female lead vocals. I give a slight edge to her vocals. Worth getting!

Creation Rebel from 1979. Solid dub album. Not as good as their second LP, Close Encounters...but still decent.

From 1991, a great compilation of Euro bands playing straight-up rock'n'roll with a punk edge. Some of the bands remind me of The Nomads (Sweden). All in all, if you do not like this comp, you do not like rock'n'roll ;) Lots of Detroit influence here (Stooges, MC5)

On a Northern Soul kick since I attended my first dance recently. From 2013 on Charly Records. Great compilation of Northern Soul in the style of Wigan Casino.

2-CD anthology that contains both albums by Crabby Appleton and some extra tracks. Early 70s pop/rock band. Grapefruit Records box set from 2023. Pretty good. "Go Back" was their signature song!

Enjoying "B-sides and Rarities" CD from the First Collection box set. 2018 release on Sub Pop. More melodic "folky" rock from them.

From 1999, Jah Warrior (Steve Mosco) Records compilation of productions. Solid roots reggae music. In a showcase style.
