ADM Nimitz, when appointed to be CINCPACFLT in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor, famously traveled incognito by train to the west coast despite being able to take a plane if desired, so as to give himself time to think and prepare a deliberate course of action when he took command. Slow is fast.

Recently listened to your last appearance on Joe Rogan from like 2017, and I thought it was an enjoyable good-natured banter. Do you think you'd be able to have the same balanced discussion on Rogan in 2025?

I guess I'd inform my opinion on how much they spent at the restaurant. If I dropped a load of cash on the meal, it would strike me as petty to charge a plate fee for a cake brought in for a special occasion.

I checked, and the 2023 U.S. Catholic Sunday readings do not include Revelations once. It appears 7 times in daily readings, for weekday mass.

Surprised the topic was even broached. Post WW2 and especially Post-Vatican II it’s not a subject the Church tends to dwell on much.

“Faith without works is dead”
In this corner we have James.
In the other corner the challenger, Brother Martin Luther …

Ha, fair points, I never thought about that part of it. There are certainly some religious orders that see the world as irredeemably corrupt, and withdraw from it (cloistered monks and nuns most famously), but this is more the exception than the norm, at least today.

Interesting, I never came across anything about this in the Catholic Church. Just wasn’t a thing that was focused on. I’ve always found Evangelical sects’ focus on Revelations and the Rapture to be sort of quirky.
