You are absolutely correct - many Christians in Europe. However, also many in Western Europe not professing any Christian faith, despite a strong moral sense. I’m suggesting a perception, not the reality. And in particular, a misguided perception of what is wrong with European liberal elites.

To explain the tone: I suggest both the perception of European irreligiousness, and a Christian work ethic. Part of that ethic’s baggage is to despise the part of one’s self that questions it - and the next step is to project that dislike onto others - viscerally. Similarly for religion and doubt.
