The police indicate there was no foul play or forced entry to Bolivas’ shared apartment in Downtown Luriel, but have not ruled anything out,” said the reporter. She tilted her head and her blonde bob stayed perfectly placed. “Bolivas’ family and friends report he was not a user of—” Cera shook her head and set her holotablet on its charging station. Soulmateless were the least of the government’s concerns—this man would never be found. LAST CHANCE MATCH Pitch: Welcome to the inaugural season of Last Chance Match, a government-funded dating show for the soulmateless to find their other half. Set in a tropical location, twenty hopeful singles will compete for the chance to have a soulmate and all the benefits that come with it such as: free healthcare and education, better job opportunities and exemption from soulmateless extermination at thirty. Due to limited resources and population control, only three couples can win. Are you ready to find the one who’s to die for? 28-year-old soulmateless Cera thinks the opportunity could be the start of something amazing until the show takes a dark turn and a fellow contestant is killed by the robot host. The infuriatingly attractive but mysterious Ryde swears he’ll get Cera home safely so long as they remain coupled to protect one another from elimination. But the fatal games they play for the nation’s entertainment pick the contestants off one by one, leaving Cera and Ryde to fight for their happily ever after—and to make it out alive. MYSTIC MOUNTAIN Pitch: Seven years after her brother's disappearance and cutting ties with her college friends she ran a YouTube channel with, Whitney is offered the payday of a lifetime to produce a documentary on the abandoned theme park MYSTIC MOUNTAIN and its mysterious closing. The last people she expected to see was the gange from the life she left behind, including the optimistic and attractive Ale. But when their inviting host locks them in the park overnight, Whitney's past isn't the only thing she's running for her life from.

For a moment, it was as if Last Chance Match didn’t exist. They were back home, outside Kona’s Diner, where Ryde had finally admitted every truth he’d been afraid to share with Cera. The moonlight kissed their skin as they leaned into one another and the moment only belonged to them. Ryde cupped her chin in the crook of his index finger. Her breath caught in her throat, eyes dropping to the lips she never thought she’d want trailing down every inch of her body. On his chest, her fists curled around the fabric of his shirt and his low chuckle sent a chill rushing down her spine. Nothing had prepared her for the way Ryde made her feel. One minute, she was angry and hated him for the frustration he’d caused her, and the next, she wanted to be buried so deeply within him, she didn’t care if she couldn’t come up for air. There was something about him that felt so right, something she couldn’t explain. His tongue traced over her bottom lip, ghosting over the seam. A tiny whimper opened her mouth, inviting him in. He tasted nothing like she thought he would; the faint taste of mint lingered on his tongue as he pushed deeper. His hands wrapped around her waist, greedily yanking her into him and leaving no space between them. He was everything and the nothing in-between, the treacherous sea and the peaceful shoreline. And despite the situation, he’d wanted her. Ryde pulled away, pressing one, final peck on her lips before smiling. “I’ve waited two years for that,” he said, “and I’d have waited longer if I had to.”

Fingers wrapped around her chin, tilting her head. Ryde’s thumb crossed over her jaw, a slow and easy smile spreading on his face. She’d always known his eyes were blue, but she’d never noticed the beautiful speckles of green in them. “I’ve got you,” he whispered. “We’re alright.” She wanted so badly to believe that. His hand slid back to cup her cheek and she leaned into it, melting into his touch. There was a gentleness in the way he looked at her. She hated it, still hated him and especially hated this place. Maybe it was a nightmare, like the ones she used to have as a kid.

Ryde’s hand hung in the air, lonely without the touch of her skin against the pads of his fingers, but he finally let it fall to his side. “I understand how bad this looks, but I didn’t stalk you. I didn’t know who you were until I met you that first night. And I’d only asked for you to be my waitress because I thought you were gorgeous.” “And you let me think you had a soulmate,” she countered. “So, say I had reciprocated your feelings. What then? You’d let me think I was a mistress? You know cheating in Calasca is punishable by death. What was your angle?” Leaning to the side, Ryde rested his shoulder against the wall. “I don’t know. I didn’t have a plan, Cera. I hadn’t planned on falling for you over the past two years, but here we are.”
