BREAKING: Bipartisan effort defeats Trump's push for mid-cycle gerrymander in Indiana. Key word here: bipartisan.

It was Jesus (Luke 19:40)
who said if these keep silent, then the very stones
will cry out.

Thanks to @hvwriterscenter.bsky.social for sharing my #poem "Reburial" about the reinterment of the bodily remains of five people murdered in Chimaltenengo during the Guatemalan Civil War. One of ten poems included in my forthcoming chapbook "Around the Country a Chasm". #poetry

From the Dept. of Good News, via @billmckibben.bsky.social:

Over the first half of 2025, fossil fuel emissions for producing electricity actually fell, which means "the clean energy transition is not destined to be the slow, dragged-out affair most analysts would have predicted even 5 years ago."

For a stubborn magazine that refuses to enter the digital world, I profiled a stubborn #GOP Governor who refuses to enter Trump's world. Marc Racicot—friend of G.W. Bush & former #RNC chair—contends there's no connection between our past and present troubles. But #history, too, is rather stubborn.

A few (rare) moments of pure comedy from the #UnitedNations general assembly. Even funnier because when I try to imagine the videographer, he appears as John Cleese silly walking escalator stairs three at a time. TY Farnaz Fassihi & @nytimes.com

Elevating these words from @medicalaidpal.bsky.social's Gaza Medical Coordinator with hope that others will share & donate. The Israeli military now routinely murders people standing in line for flour, forcing even children to chose not between life or death but between starvation or massacre.

The new Chief Justice of Montana's nonpartisan Supreme Court taking time away from the third branch to applaud Trump's bombing of a "bad neighborhood".

Deeply heartened to be part of @thenation.com's 160th anniversary issue - a compendium of 50 writers reporting from 50 states - and deeply disheartened by the wreckage documented there. I keep thinking if we do not turn away then we will still lose many things but never the truth. #mtnews #mtpol

“Carol and I are in love,” Pat Williams told me during an interview for MT Quarterly 6 years ago. But what matters as much, “is that we respect [and] usually listen to each other.”
“That’s [how] to grow and be a better person,” he
said. “Having respect for other people’s views.” #mtnews #mtpol
