The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
5/5 ⭐️

Addie makes a deal with the devil to get freedom and time and he gets to keep her soul when she doesn’t want it anymore. It’s slow, but I was in a flow state reading this.

This was basically a hallmark movie as a book. He’s a firefighter and she’s a baker/event planner. A quick fun read, but there were no stakes. It was a sweet story with comfy autumn vibes. Cute!

Beyond the dark, evocative mood expected, this is a horror novel with chilling depictions of demonic possession. Reading at night not recommended.

Lightning in Her Hands by Raquel Vazquez Gilliland

Imagine being the witch of lightning, but never being in control of your powers? If your volatile emotions were reflected by the weather, you would be mad too. Reminiscent of practical magic!

This one time I somehow read 16 books in one month and now I think that’s somehow attainable. Have never gotten close to that again, but I will keep trying to recreate that feat! Let’s see how it goes.

Feeling slightly overwhelmed with my TBR for August (this is a lot for me). If you’ve read any of these lmk if I should skip or if it’s a must!!

To be fair The Odyssey, Dante’s Inferno are all rereads and I’m only reading them again to get hyped for Katabasis next month!
