Somebody once said that modern education is the biggest pyramid scheme there is - and the example given was how someone with a doctorate in Egyptology can probably only get a job after all that to teach and train more Egyptologists in a university.

Somebody once said that modern education is the biggest pyramid scheme there is - and the example given was how someone with a doctorate in Egyptology can probably only get a job after all that to teach and train more Egyptologists in a university.
Wouldn’t it be interesting if employers totally disrupted higher education institutes by no longer requiring bachelor’s degrees but instead focused on skills based learning?
In a way, I think HEIs are focused on providing students with an education as they define it and are not concerned with jobs.
