What’s your first storm memory?

Mine is Hurricane Bob in Maine in 1991. I was 7 years old at the time and glued to the window. While it was a much milder experience than what happened in southern New England, we lost power and had a large tree fall on the power lines. I was endlessly fascinated.

The print edition also included some of my photos which was really fun to see.

Did you know I'm a published author? Well, kind of. A couple years ago I had the chance to write a tongue-in-cheek movie review for the Weather edition of Whalebone Magazine. They gave me Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs & asked me to rate its scientific accuracy 😆

Only an hour after my first plains tornado, a separate storm moved over the small town of Wray, CO. The 25 minutes that followed would go down as some of the wildest moments of my life, allowing me to capture video I had only dreamed of & propelling me into a future I thought was unreachable. #WXsky

Epic weekend of nonstop raving with this guy. Eric Prydz, Carl Cox, Massano, Westend, Argy, Disclosure and so many more just absolutely crushed it.

And I think I convinced Aaron to get on Bluesky. Stand by for results.

In 2016, struggling to make ends meet, I set out from FL on a passion project to make a storm chasing doc. I had 3 days to get storm footage. Day 1 was May 7, 2016. I watched in awe as the Eckley, CO tornado filled my viewfinder. It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen - until an hour later...

My first tornado: After giving up on my childhood dreams to be a storm chaser, I began to settle into a career as a filmmaker. On June 26, 2009, an EF0 hit my office building. I ran outside and my life's trajectory was forever changed.

It would be another 7 years until I saw my next tornado...

Happy Supercell Saturday fam!

After documenting the McLean, TX tornado, and getting the vehicle I was in destroyed by baseball sized hail, I pulled over to photograph this storm that went on to produce the Elk City, OK EF2 on May 16, 2017.

Looking forward to skies like this again. One of my favorite chase days of 2023, this nearly stationary supercell provided a laidback chase and the opportunity to run into some good friends on the side of the road near Amarillo, TX.

How’s this for a scud bomb? This was a developing wall cloud ingesting hail fog in rain-cooled air. At quick glance this would have appeared like a large tornado to many people, but the thoughtful observer would have seen that the benign clouds were not rotating.

Had a fun Casino Royale themed fundraising event with my bestie. Always fun having an excuse to dress like adults.

A massive supercell towering over the plains of eastern New Mexico in 2023. I sat under the hatchback of my car and watched this scene unfold while blasting my Hans Zimmer pandora station. Pure bliss (:

Moments before this photo I saw my first anticyclonic tornado and my first NM tornado!

Everybody's asking who's going to win the election, but the real question is should I buy this jacket for the EDM festival next month?

Fort Stockton 2.0 | June 2, 2023

What a wild day getting to intercept this tornado only a couple miles away from my first Fort Stockton, TX tornado in 2019. There's just something about that place.

This ghostly tornado emerged unexpectedly from the rain and silently passed by me while I was on a remote dirt road with no other cars in sight. One of the more eerie intercepts I’ve ever had.

Photos from my one tornado this year; a “backyard” chase during a year off from the full time chase grind. It’s been a healing year and I’m so thankful to have had the chance to rest. Looking forward to getting back into it whenever the time is right.
