9. THE TOMBS OF ATUAN - URSUAL K. LE GUIN

Content Warnings: Confinement , Torture , Child Abuse , Death , Slavery , Racism
The Tombs of Atuan by Ursula K Le Guin . 5 Stars . Not only was this one of the best fantasy books I've ever read, and not only did it give me a heroine I adore in Tenar - it also gave me a lot of insight into Le Guin as writer. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.

ID: The Art of Dying . Ambrose Parry . 2.75 stars . I enjoy the vibes of this series, so I won't write it off, but this would be greatly improved if the authors stopped trying to force us into shipping Will and Sarah, and focused more on crafting slightly more complex mysteries that don't rely on the investigators only doing actual sleuthing halfway into the book.

7. EMILY WILDE'S MAP OF THE OTHERLANDS

Content Warnings : Injury , Violence , Animal Death
Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands . Heather Fawcett . 4.75 stars . I did find this one to be missing a bit of the magicalness that the first one had, BUT the conclusion of this one was much better done than in the first book, and I definitely enjoyed how the conflict played out this time around.

6. THE WAY OF ALL FLESH - AMBROSE PARRY

Content Warnings : Murder , Rape , Medical Content , Unsafe Abortions
The Way of All Flesh . Ambrose Parry . 3.75 stars . The investigators didn't do a ton of actual investigating until the very end, by which point the murderer was pretty obvious, so that sucked. That said, I loved the atmosphere, and how educational this turned out to be. I'll be giving the rest of this series a go.

The Voice Upstairs . Laura E. Weymouth . 3 stars. This had a lot of potential, but between the plodding pace, the dry writing, and the heavy reliance on People Keeping Secrets to sustain the mystery, I found myself infuriated more often than not.

Camp Damascus . Chuck Tingle . 3.75 stars . This did get fairly campy on and off, and occassionally felt like it was better suited to be marketed to YA audiences. But overall, I enjoyed this. It was well-written, fun, and, especially in the first half of the book, incredibly original.
