Letterboxd review of Takashi Miike's "Ichi the Killer" "An over-the-top, cartoonishly violent tale of shameless and wicked prurience. Incredulously murderous and concerningly humorous. What looks like a comic book and watches like a video game, drags the viewer through an expanse of fun-house viscera and anarchical licentiousness. Sickos and perverts rejoice."

What starts as a tender story about grief, loss, and navigating the hard road back to happiness and emotional repletion descends into a depraved recital of jealousy and malice.
