I like to do the dive bar version of a Mai Tai. Good old amaretto is a fine substitute for orgeat syrup. 2 ounces of dark rum, 1/2 ounce amaretto, and the juice of 1/2 small orange and 1/2 small lime. Shake, pour over ice.

A great, drier version of a Gin Blossom Martini that uses extra dry vermouth versus the sweet white vermouth I've seen elsewhere. 1.5 ounces each of gin and dry vermouth and .75 ounces of apricot eau-de-vie stirred with ice and a couple of dashes of orange bitters. Serve with an orange twist.
