391 murders were committed in New York City in 2023, and I don't recall a nationwide, coordinated effort by the media to find the suspect for a single one of those.

I can't put my finger on what makes this one so different, and why it deserves everyone's attention. Life is just so random sometimes.

No, I think this is just a classic case of white on white crime.

Vigilantism is definitely unacceptable, but since you're calling him a vigilante, I guess you think he did this to serve justice?

There are a lot of murders that need to be investigated. I don't understand why this one deserves any more focus than the others.

I imagine the only people trying to hunt and harm this person are police officers, and only while they're on the clock.

Considering the police put out the photo, you might want to call Crimestoppers and tell them they have the wrong guy. We aren't the audience for that news, it's obvious to us.

Yeah, clearly a different guy. Someone made a mistake.

And if you look in the background, the woman is clearly wearing a black and blue dress, not white and gold.

If that's the actual goal here (and I don't suspect it is -- the thread is focused on how different these people look) a concerned citizen should probably provide a link to the source of the photo, instead of posting what could be a random picture with "Crimestoppers" layered on top.

I don't think violence is ever a solution that should be endorsed, but can you identify what hate group would chase this guy down? I don't see any manhunts happening.

If I saw someone that looked like this on the street, I would assume a lot of people just look alike.

Considering your inability to answer, it looks like it's "absolutely nothing."

When a trans woman uses the same restroom as your wife and daughter, you will do absolutely nothing.

You will seethe about it all day, maybe harass someone on social media, but you are incapable of doing anything.
December 4, 2024 at 3:24 PM
Sure, someone AMAB, a trans woman. What are you going to do?
December 4, 2024 at 3:11 PM
What exactly do you plan to do if you 'catch' a trans woman using a public restroom?
December 4, 2024 at 3:00 PM
It's not the whole argument of feminism. Your arguments come from a radicalized form of second-wave feminism that sees trans people as a threat to women's social and political categories.

You might call it 'gender critical' and I'll call it TERF. You don't have a claim on all of feminism.

Defining someone as a woman only because they have a functioning set of reproductive organs underlines your stance.

I think being human is more than breeding.

I don't think anyone can talk you out of your point of view, but it's good to see it laid out. Thanks for the discussion.

It emphasizes what a small and vulnerable group this is, and how little empathy someone must have to spend time and effort on shaming and excluding them from safe spaces.

Being "classified" as a sex doesn't erase intersex traits. They are remarkably common for how little acknowledgement is given, because someone is sorted into one side or the other as a "best fit." It's because gender and sex are a social construct and assigned. The underlying scales are messy.
December 3, 2024 at 5:55 PM
You keep repeating yourself here with, "rare and devastating condition," but intersex traits would 'fail' someone from being a woman by your standards. The policies you agree with isolate and exclude a small group, all for the sake of enforcing a gender purity test. www.ohchr.org/en/sexual-or...
Intersex people
Intersex people are born with sex characteristics (such as sexual anatomy, reproductive organs, hormonal patterns and/or chromosomal patterns) that do not fit typical binary notions of male or female ...

Trans people represent 0.5% of the global population, while 2% of humans globally are born with intersex traits.

This isn't a binary issue even when you break it down to physical traits, both gender and sex. When you draw hard lines to create exclusive spaces, you inevitably exclude some women.
December 3, 2024 at 4:44 PM
Reem does not think trans women are women, and pushes for policies that ignore the existence of people born with intersex traits, which I'm sure she also finds to be an uncomfortable subject.

Frankly, all women deserve to be protected from violence. Trans women are victims too.

It means the ruble is staying stable to the yuan because both of them are losing trading value against the US dollar, the Euro and the rest of the western world. BRICS works if and only if you can buy everything you want from BRICS nations, but the global economy is larger than that.
