Overwhelmed by the welcome we received. Half of the Spanish people still honor the ALB—87 years after they left Barcelona. One might expect that connection to have faded. Instead, they spoke with deep concern about America’s future.

What comes after democracy? History has already answered.

Not exactly the same, but still a twist on the established ending—we reinvented the board game Risk. Implementing Pittsburgh rules, we changed the game’s strategy. To shorten playtime, we ushered in a rule allowing a player to "nuke" a country at the end of their turn—a dark yet time-saving twist.

The bridge towers, the two cables, the wire tensile strength, expansion and contraction stresses, the saddles, anchor plates, and more, are described.

As SNL’s anniversary approaches, reflecting on Franco’s twisted legacy sheds light on our own political situation. Who will rise to the level of Orwell, Hemingway, Picasso, Isidora Dolores Ibaragi, or the Abraham Lincoln Brigade in our time? In 939 the good guys lost.

NBC’s SNL is preparing its 50th anniversary? In 1975 SNL’s first season, Franco died. At the time, Pres Nixon called him a “loyal friend and ally of the US.” In 1975, Chevy Chase mocked Nixon’s admiration by showing Franco doing a Heil Hitler salute (echoing Musk’s recent gestures).

Off to Madrid on 18Feb to participate in the 2025 Jarama March, to celebrate the Abraham Lincoln Brigade in defending Madrid in the early days of the Spanish CivWar. Concerned I might encounter pro-Franco protesters. Now I’m worried I will be seen as an adversary by the people I want to support.
