To do this on a soft surface isn't as effective (especially the back-cracking part). I think I get more in touch with the sensations in my body while on the floor, so it's easier to enter a meditative state. My bed is where I rest without intention to do this mind/body reset, I just scroll my phone

I lie down on the floor from time to time, not necessarily due to exhaustion, but to meditate for a moment if I've been sitting still for a long time (or been up on my feet without rest). My back tend to crack as well, which is a nice bonus! :-)

TLDR: Floor time is kind of a way to reset myself.
