Whilst this is probably a very competent bongo solo I’m just not in the mood for that right now.

Reflect Orbital wants to destroy the night sky to deliver "sunlight as a service". SpaceX wants to destroy Low Earth Orbit to launch one million "AI datacentres"

The only way to formally protest these two ideas is to file a comment with the US FCC, which is horribly complicated, but the […]

I really want an AI bot that can weed the edges of my lawn and just generally in my lawn as well.

There are a couple of creeping plants (creeping buttercup, lavender grass, couch) as well as general nuisances (daisy, oxalis) that need to be removed.

If an AI-powered bot could continually […]

Imported LNG?

Why, oh why, are we under the thumb of absolute #fossilfools?

We could have energy independence with cheap offshore wind and solar power. We could phase out fossil fuels and transition to a carbon free economy.

But not with these crapitalist bootlickers in charge.

This is tying […]

[Spiders]

I sometimes let spiders rescue themselves from the pool.

He just needed a small prod with a flipper.

Went for a swim this evening.

Many insects joined me.

I retrieved two giant crickets, five smaller crickets, two spiders, and a praying mantis who kamikaze’d in from an altitude of at least 2 metres when I first saw it.

When washing off in the shower afterwards a gigantic black spider about […]

When PM Chris Luxon’s term comes to an end in November he will get the standard knighthood for having been PM.

I would like that nomination to be handled the same way his party has handled every single environmental issue:

* this is not a priority for the first year
* our country is too small […]

Would be good if the EU could follow suit.

Hidden car door handles and lack of fully mechanical door opening is a massive safety failing.

“The Longwood forest (Southland) is infested with stoats and weasles, and it will only be a matter of a few years before the native birds are extinct in that locality.”

What possessed us to introduce stoats, weasels and ferrets to New Zealand?
Why did they do it? What possessed New Zealand’s government of the day, its citizens and acclimatisation societies to introduce rabbits and then stoats?

Aotearoa folks, it looks like Mitre 10 is getting rid of their brass hose fittings. On the weekend I visited and every single Jobmate brass hose fitting had been removed from the shelf and was in a jumbled box of bargain bits.

These are all Gardena […]

Kids are mind boggling.

The dining room table was clean. A child has had a bowl of cornflakes. Somehow there is rice and maybe a mung bean on the table. We don’t even have mung beans in the house.

How is this possible?

You know it’s a very strong cardboard box when you have to get out a saw to cut it for recycling.

H*ck of a sturdy box that one.

Why am I recycling such a good box? Judging by the label it’s from when the first person moved into this house. It’s stored the spare paint for a long time and now […]

Hypothetical question:

If I booked a flight on a Star Alliance member (China Southern) and I’ve taken the flight can I then get another Star Alliance member (Air New Zealand) to shower me with points and fame and glory?

Where is the button to do that? It used to be easy to find.

People have been retooting political outrage bait since 2016 and I reckon that hasn’t worked since the situation in the US is worse. Maybe there are other options other than announcing their opinions online?
