Hi, @bugeric.bsky.social. Any chance you would know what species this is? The Observation website says it´s a stink bug, but I´m not sure the AI has got it right. It was tiny, about 2mm long, and was found in southern Spain.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

They do, and so predators like to wait for them...This one perhaps is being a bit optimistic, if it expects to ambush anybody. It makes for a pretty shot, though.

Hiya #Bugsky. Today’s bug collection has been very good. Many cute ones out after yesterday’s rain has given us all a rest from the hellish heat this summer. My favourite today is this little grasshopper inside a hibiscus flower.

Evening #Bugsky! Waiting for a proper summer storm tomorrow, this tiny Thompson crab spider posed on a rock geranium flower! It’s said these change colour to match their environment, but this one probably hadn’t had the time yet. It made for a pretty contrast with the plant though.

Hello #Bugsky! This is a cute little jumping spider (Hasarius adansoni) exploring the top of my sofa. She was very nice and patiently posed for a good while. I find it hard to understand anybody who dislikes spiders.

A tiny jumping spider sits on top of my corduroy sofa and looks straight at my macro lens. She is black but has two white appendages, which are folded over her mouth. Her 4 main eyes are edged in dark orange.

Hey #BugSky, observation. org says this is a Drilus flavescens beetle, 50% certainty. Photo taken in Murcia, south-east Spain. This could be an adult female or a larva of either male or female. If you know anything about these intriguing beetles, please share!
A bug tentatively ID´d as Drilus flavescens looks like a segmented caterpillar with lateral bristles on stals flanking a brown body with black marks on top of each segment.

Hello Skylings. A few days since my las UW pic, so for today, I chose one that had an unexpected delight in it. If you look carefully to the bottom right corner, these Maldivian anemonefishes have a clutch of eggs going. Never saw it until I processed the pic!

Two Maldives anemonefishes (Amphiprion nigripes) in their Heteractis magnifica anemone host. The anemone has a beautiful red stalk and the tentacles are bright green. The fishes are orange with a single vertical white band from top to bottom of their heads behind their eyes. There is a clutch of red eggs (like many red dots) on the coral rock in the bottom right of the frame.

OK, after bugs, back to the UW pics for a cooling effect in this heat. How about two threshers crossing paths, back when they still came to clearner wrasse at Monad Shoal? (Now they seem to prefer Kimud Shoal). More in Alt.

Two thresher sharks swimming by each other at right angles. Although it is difficult to be certain, the proposed ID for these two is for 2 different species. The one below, swimming from left to right of the frame, could be Alopias pelagicus. The one above, swimming towards the camera, could be alopias superciliosus, by the shape of its head. Both sharks share the thresher´s extremely long caudal fin that defines these species. The sharks can only be shot with ambient light. Flash hurst them badly as they are deep dwelling species and only come up to visit cleaning stations. Hence the slightly blurry image.

A butterfly for the butterfly community today. Iphiclides feisthamelii is a species we see often in our garden. Have a great day and protect yourselves from the sun and heat. Not a joke.

The butterfly is libating on the purple flowers of a Duranta erecta. It has a whitish body with wings based white with black stripes from the wing´s forward edge inwards. The lower part of the wing has a wave-like shape with bright blue lines between black ones, and two long tail-like endings.

H. roo ad H. confetti are practically identical, but I don't see gradation of colour in the gill lines in my image. See that kind of gradation in this pic from the web for H. confetti. Note the one I posted is not the only pic I have.
