Thanks to Swim England for a wonderful Dip at the Docks alongside the Labour Conference in Liverpool today. It was great to meet MPs Katie White and Simon Opher - both passionate supporters of their local lidos and of #LidosForAll.

We’re delighted to have been able to join Chipping Norton Lido to celebrate 21 years of community ownership - defying the wind and rain thanks to heated water and the warmth of the love for this very special pool! 🔥

This is why Future Lidos exists - to help prevent this happening and bring more heritage lidos back into community use.

Happy Rebirthday(s) to Beccles and Chipping Norton lidos! 15 and 21 years ago respectively, these precious community assets in small towns were taken into community ownership. They've both gone from strength to strength since, and we wish them many, many happy returns! 🎂🥳🎉

Happy summer season opening day to Ware Priory Lido! Lovingly sustained for the community since 1934 by the town council, for the last two years Ware has joined the nationwide boom in winter cold water swimming, making it yet another year-round lido. Enjoy your summer, lucky people of Ware!

Happy summer season opening day to Beccles Lido! Beccles is one of only two surviving public outdoor pools in the whole of Suffolk and Norfolk. Owned and run since 2010 by a community-led charity, this is a fantastic lido and a wonderful example of the power of community ownership.

Happy seasonal opening day to gorgeous Gourock! Built in 1909, Gourock was once tidal with a sandy floor. Today it's a modern, heated saltwater pool, with some of the best views of any lido in the world. And in 2023, it graced the cover of Blur's album, the Ballad of Darren.

Wishing a happy and successful summer season to three P's - Pells, Ponty and Portishead - which moved into summer mode on 12th April. The oldest continually operating pool in Britain, the National Lido of [only lido in] Wales, and a groovy 1960s pool, they show the rich variety of our lido heritage.

Here's a tale of two Jubilees - Jubilee Pool Penzance and Jubilee Park Woodhall Spa - which opened for the season on 5th April. Both born in 1935, and now run by independent charities, they're invaluable to the wellbeing of their communities and to their local economies. Have a great season, both!

Happy seasonal opening day to the beautiful behemoth that is Tooting Bec Lido. 90m of unheated water, it’s been open year-round since 1905 for club members, and opens to the public every summer. After a £4m investment in its future by Wandsworth Council, the experience will be better than ever.

We’re shining a light on the seasonal lidos, waking up now to bring us joy all summer.

First up, the gorgeous, Grade II-listed Cheltenham Lido, in heated summer mode since 29th March after its regular winter cold water season.

Big, beautiful, community-owned and solar powered - what’s not to love?

Future Lidos is part of the huge Coalition supporting the March for Clean Water in London.

The big event in February is the launch of the Lido Toolkit - the product of months of collaboration across the sector, pooling knowledge, experience, evidence and ideas.
