Some of us have a lot to say! We love to share information and we feel leaving some things out won't feel right. Shame on his professor.

Oof, shame on that professor for being so curt. It must have stung to get that response, as it stayed with you. You didn't deserve that kind of response. I wish professors would respond with more compassion and kindness instead of feeling like connecting to the student is too much work.

This is a wild assumption and harmful. It would appear you have a lot to learn about neurodivergence and compassion. We can't move through life assuming everyone is using chatGPT because they are verbose, that's absurd.

It can also be common in folks who have experienced trauma, wanting to be sure they are understood, do not miscommunicate, and cover every possible base so they don't get 'in trouble'.

I am guilty of this, too, as a neurodivergent person. I am always writing the most. Discussion posts for my class will ask for 250 words but I find myself writing double that without realizing.

The likelihood that someone took the time to use chatGPT to formulate an email to ask a question seems really unlikely. It is far more likely that they are verbose, as a neurodivergent person I can promise I always say too much.
