My two 20cm Noctua fans arrived today for my DIY air filters. They’re very quiet but also surprisingly weak. As a result I might stack two of them. I did a few simple tests using a makeshift wind tunnel and an anemometer. 9-10cm between fans was best for wind speed.

I have some other N95s I’ve tried: one is a duckbill, one I’ve forgotten, the GVS serge and the Trident respirator.

Some respirators I’ve tried: Vflex, Zimi Air, Draeger and 3M Aura

Do any other rock stars wear respirators on stage like Mike Patton did here on ’God Hates a Coward‘ with Tomahawk? When do you wear your respirators like N95/KN95s or P100s - or are you a coward who dares not stand out?

I’ve built my first acoustic absorber/diffuser. I applied two layers of Earthwool (often called Rockwool) and covered the front with fabric with Aboriginal art work and the back with a plain grey/brown fabric to keep the fibres inside. The abfuser uses a 30 degree French cleat to hang on the wall.

Nice. Looks like NSW is not generating enough of it's own electricity atm. It's likely importing from VIC. At least some of my electricity is coming from my solar panels on my roof. I hear that battery storage is going to become more affordable next year.

It’s 38 degrees outside in Sydney and 26-27 degrees inside - this room is not air conditioned - the insulation is good here and I barricade the windows with foam insulation. How do you keep cool on hot days? What systems do you use?

It's not always higher. There are various 3-degree polynomials that could fit the data. In other words it goes up, down, and up again. For my equations I just fit the curve to all the data, regardless of the Sars Cov2 variant. The data is a little noisy/unclear, but may not be a straight line.

I had a quick look at Linux distros and decided to try Pop Os. I made an iso boot USB to test it. I haven’t used Linux before, so there’ll be a learning curve. I’m downloading a few things I want to use and my next step is getting sound to work so I can watch instructional videos on YouTube.

I came up with these relations based only on C02 alone - it's not based on any particular study, but just a estimated relative risk of a given C02 level compared with another.

Infectivity = 1.001 + erf(-434/CO2)
Infectivity = 0.992*atan(atan(0.000721*CO2))

And this is what the smoothed RH looks like with the new smoothed formula.

This is what the smoothed C02 data looks like with the formula.

I applied some data smoothing and came up with this Infectivity formula with C02 and Relative Humidity

Infectivity = 0.04073*RH + 0.000221*CO2 + 7.35e-6*RH^3 - 0.207 - 2.6e-8*CO2^2 - 0.000997*RH^2

Infectivity vs C02, Infectivity vs RH, Infectivity vs Time

Here are some heat maps with C02 vs RH, CO2 vs Time, RH vs Time

Try this - based on some of the source data in the first paper you shared.

Infectivity = 0.443 + 0.000166*CO2 + (241*RH^2 - 0.0227*CO2*RH)/(179 + seconds) - 0.622*RH - 1.06131543614508e-8*CO2*seconds - 1.06131543614508e-8*CO2^2

Happy testing!

I got my respirator masks from ZimiAir today. I have purchased their KN100 mask before which is their high filtration efficacy mask but I wanted to try a more breathable one for the hot summer ahead in Australia, so I ordered their KN95 mask. I highly recommend Zimis masks.
