In this new meta-analysis of 39 studies we found that secure attachment was linked to higher self-compassion, and insecure attachment (anxious & avoidant) was linked to lower self-compassion. #OA @durhampsych.bsky.social @bpsofficial.bsky.social

Being self-compassionate to your own lapses can be difficult. But can educating people about #self-compassion make it easier? Our research suggests the answer is NO. We found no evidence that psychoeducation increased responding with self-compassion to lapses.

In this meta-analysis of 40 studies incl 5,619,584 participants we found that #autistic individuals are more than 2X likely to have had at least 1 adverse childhood experience, incl all types of abuse, neglect, violence, bullying etc., than a non-autistic person.

CNN article on managing #procrastination. I weighed in on the role of emotion regulation & other science-backed perspectives. But less helpful tips on task management, attention, & discipline are incl. I'm all for lay views but not when they conflict with science.
