Charlie embodied “Free speech lets me be a mean and abrasive jerk. It lets me insult my enemies. It lets me gloat over tragedies that strike my outgroup.”

Punishing people for mean, offensive, or hateful speech is betraying the principles Charlie Kirk stood for.

They are hiring large numbers of people, and it will be cronies using ideological tests.

It’s a way to get brownshirts paychecks and badges, and without legal protections for arrestees I expect them to be used against any enemies.

I know nothing about sex work, but I haven’t seen a good answer to “By asking them if they are a victim.”

It’s always either
1.) Workers are too stupid/evil/poor/addicted to realize they are victims.
Or.
2.) Workers are subject to extralegal coercion (which decrim would make less likely.)

Sorcerers have inherent power.

Warlocks are more like clerics, except they have a dysfunctional relationship with their god. That’s why they have a pact. Either they traded something precious for power or they promised services their patron doesn’t trust them to willingly perform.

Other options.

Show precautions. GRR Martin shows us The Wall. What kind of threat needs THAT?

Show groundwork. Spies, scouts, infiltrators.

Show refugees. Roman borderlands were overrun by tribes of people fleeing from the Huns.

Knife (I need some type of tool, and it’s super versatile.)
Tent (It’s shelter, and I can cut a tarp out of the bottom to try to condense water.)
Flare gun (signal for help, and make fire).
First aid kit (If I need it, I need it. And lots of things are dual use like tape or needle and thread.)

Or have a barbarian who actually is a genius but plays up the dumb barbarian schtick to trick people.

Might be a good choice if you want a spy or double agent in the party.

“It can’t be Gurk sending these reports to the BBEG. He can’t write and only takes paper when he’s going to the toilet.”
June 5, 2025 at 7:41 PM
True. If I’m going to listen to one of their albums, that’s the one. It’s one that works to listen to all the way through.

Although it’s not their best collection of songs. If I just want to hear one song, it’s likely to be from Broken.

The pitch.

Society: Male sexuality is sinful and any expression is evil. You should be cast into outer darkness. No excuses. Even asking for understanding or mercy shows you deserve none.

Tate: You can be a man. If a bitch tries to castrate you with moral BS, ignore it and take what you want.

The adventure should be an appropriate challenge level for your players. The world should not be.

Unless all players can and want to participate in a type of encounter (social, wilderness survival), it shouldn’t be the main focus of a session.

Tech or magic that exists only to serve the plot and doesn’t change society. Ex. Everyone with super powers is a vigilante, government agent, or villain.

Hyper focused development in one area. Ex. The military has modern tanks but civilians are driving Model T level cars.

This is great.

The party also gets less benefit from sleeping.

They discover that the bartender is a night hag.

After defeating and banishing her they wake up in a rotting, abandoned building. If they backtrack, they find other abandoned buildings with any coin they ‘spent’ lying on the ground.

I feel really bad for the party that has to deal with the BBEG’s kid after they win.

Especially when their sorcerer powers from whatever their other parent was start manifesting.

One of mine.

5 PCs fight coordinated evil party.

Find a set of 5 earrings of communication, 5 pyramids cut from the same gem that allow audio chat.

Miss that 6 of the gems would make a cube.

2 sessions later, an assassin hunts the party with the 6th earring that they had left with their boss.

Right. Also, the reason we have different words is nuance. Thesauruses don’t give this.

People can holler, wail, bellow, screech, or whoop.

If a writer picks a word without knowing why it’s the best one, they probably should have just used ‘scream’ and used context to show how they screamed.

I want to do this with warlocks.

Their patrons are a pantheon gods that have lost status and their worship outlawed. All they can do is make pacts and scheme to return to power.

Historical vibe is followers of the Norse pantheon a century after Christianity became the legal religion of Iceland.

I’m a fan of the Rakshasha.

Great evil vizier type NPC.

Throw one in at low levels and they can just sit there with plots that don’t directly impact the PCs.

They are twisty enough that they can rescue PCs as part of an evil plan or be a known evil that’s too important to take out.

In a superhero game, the party has helped a bunch of minor powers.

Super strong construction worker, newscaster whose teleportation lets her be first to the story, etc.

The party loses to a powerful telepath. The next session they are given the side characters to stop the brainwashed heroes.
February 8, 2025 at 4:45 PM
I think I’ve used something like this before.

To be fair, tyrant is a synonym for monarch. It’s just not the preferred form of address in court.

And the party should have realized there was something wrong when it told them to use various slurs.
February 5, 2025 at 3:36 PM
I see a use for this.

There’s a lot of telemedicine practiced to give patients what they know they need. But they have to go through a doctor to get a prescription. And all the doctor does is a safety check, which AI could do in the future.

But making viagra OTC seems like a better option.

Variant.

This can be used to scry at will, sensing flavors at a distance. Food cooked in this pan tastes like whatever the target has most recently ate.
January 29, 2025 at 1:57 AM
No.

If I fully understood why humans have problems, I’d know how to fix them.

And even when I have ideas that I am confident are correct, convincing others is a problem. My lack of success in convincing others shows it is a problem I don’t fully understand.
January 27, 2025 at 1:07 PM
I just keep on falling back on pastiches.

It’s like the Holy Roman Empire if the northern Germans were elves and the electors included characters like the drakespeaker and nechrarch.

Or the party plays Marco Polo on a diplomatic mission to the Orcish court.
January 16, 2025 at 10:04 PM
On a hunt for a dangerous monster the encounters a group of goblin restauranteurs who are trying to capture gourmet ingredients.

A possibility for recurring NPCs or even a base of operations if the PCs decide to help their business.

This also works with one element as a flavorful twist to magic foci. Not too powerful, and avoids having a +X vanilla item.

That wand you got from a lich? Necrotic damage if you want it.

The icicle staff doesn’t let you cast fire spells, but switches them to ice.
