Reagan should obviously rest in piss, but surely the "some metric" is on the wrong axis? If the X-axis isn't time, how does the graph make sense?

I mean, I guess *technically* some metrics are units of time?

Death of the author is so much easier to live by when the author has the decency to be dead.

No no, it's the final *ninth* season. The won't ever make another ninth season of Scrubs.

Well, at least not until the reboot from 2045 gets revived for a 9th season in 2063. But those seasons will be 3½ episodes each, so that clearly doesn't count.

In Swedish translations of Goofy his "gosh" is translated into "kors", a mild oath meaning "cross". It all makes sense now.

Words like "is" and "are" are often intentionally left out of headlines of some newspapers. I suspect it depends on what style guide the paper follows.

Even knowing this, it still trips me up.

Based on the comments here it didn't help that your original posts don't specify if the box with the bigger scoop is the newer or older one. Because the change would likely be scummy in different ways depending to that, and people are responding as if it's clearly the one they thought of first.

If they have to confuse morality and legality, pointing towards someone who was famously sentenced to death as their moral compass might not be the best idea?

"Jesus was in fact sinful because he broke Roman law" feels like trying to invent a new sort of blasphemy? Or reinvent an old one?

This math doesn't check out for me? I'm certain I could lose an arm at least two different days! With modern medical science maybe even more.

It could make some sense to want to allow different settings on different devices if the main reason they think user's don't want video to auto-play is data usage.

This one sort of makes sense though: It's the difference between stirring the pot and being in it.

The point of that site is to show how misleading the Mercator projection is when it comes to size. That would be very difficult to do without using it as the thing being compared to.

Spending that same effort to paint 20 *other* crosswalks in town would probably be lower risk and more effective. Especially if that idea then spread.
August 31, 2025 at 6:19 AM
They will likely be posting cops at that one crosswalk 24-7 to send a message. So it'd sure be a shame if instead of putting lots of effort/risk into re-coloring it, people started chalking multiple *other* crosswalks! Because then non-locals could also get involved and it'd be harder to remove.

The fascist state will likely be posting cops at that one crosswalk 24/7 to send a message. So instead of putting lots of effort/risk into re-coloring it, may I suggest loads of people chalking multiple *other* crosswalks? That way people who aren't local could also get involved.

No, I'm sure there are *some* parts of the American public who know what "on the whole" means?
August 26, 2025 at 10:55 AM
But wouldn't it be even more like the Spider-Verse movies if it had non-numbered sequels with *nearly* the same name, making it very difficult to remember ther order?
August 26, 2025 at 8:24 AM
Did you miss the part where you'd be living for a year in a world where ghosts are real? Knowing that ghosts aren't real here won't help much there. Unless *possibly* if it's a "they'll scare you to death" sort of deal I guess, but I don't know what horror movie that'd be?
August 13, 2025 at 10:17 PM
Zoology is clearly doing this already, but I'm not sure what their weirdest box used in an experiment with a cute animals is?

Medical science does it with infants using incubators. It's proven enough to no longer be experimental though. Though they *do* still call what they do "practice"...?

[The chatbots] can't see what could possibly go wrong with that idea.

More likely Trump's being blackmailed by Russia among other states over Epstein (and various such kompromat) to install other people who the same states can also control through blackmail. The incompetence and anti-science is a bonus, but the most important part is that they can be controlled.

So how is it much better to leave the power of the pardon to the Secretary of State for Justice, who's appointed by the Monarch on the advice of the Prime Minister? Sure, the US situation is more fucked up. But that sort of power is always political, even if it's not democratically elected.
