For 1) I'm not asking for rewind but running the replay, stop, dump, and in another session start from the dump and replay from there. Is that the same as rewind to you?

Seems crazy!!!
Questions:
1) can the replay start some seconds before the bug occurs, or do we have to go through the entire session at each replay?
2) do you expect it to work for reproducing GPU crashes?

I know header units are supposed to be an intermediary migration step towards modules but I would be happy stopping the migration here (assuming they keep the promise of faster builds!)

I have more faith in header units (which to my understanding are like mini-PCH) than modules. C++ code bases do rely on macros and so many things are hard to do without them and without falling into template hell.

@lectem.bsky.social Honestly the conclusion of my experiment wasn't on compiling speed. Very quickly while converting .h files to header units (not modules, header units can export macros!) I would end up with MSVC "Internal compiler error", which didn't inspire confidence so I stopped there ^^.
