When you cut away that sincerity all you're left with is a bunch of people in a room making fun of the mere idea of a kid being gay, of a kid wanting love, of a kid who doesnt know what they want but still want it with all of their heart, and thats just not fun to watch.

I love the original because like most of the songs in RtC its comedy is laced with sincerity. Sure theyre singing about wanting to be that fucked up girl and fucking catgirls in space but beneath that is this honesty and desire inherent to lives that were cut short too soon

Anyway the actor himself also seems ashamed to be in drag and no intimate moment is left to linger for fear of actually being percieved as gay.
