Cameron has some gross comments about Native Americans and Avatar 1 leans onto ecological Indian/noble savage stereotypes more than anything should, but the sequels have far better about portraying the Na'vi as complex people, since Jake has a family now and conflicts there.

If you want to make a GNC character who struggles with their identity, sense of self, and societal roles be completely unabashedly cis, that's up to you, but then why make those their defining traits? Why spend time on it? Why treat a trans(feminine) reading of said character as a baseless asspull?

How do you know they were lying? Someone, even a douchebag, who says that they use certain pronouns and insists upon those pronouns deserves to be believed. Trans people shouldn't have to earn their pronouns.
