A bit of Stockholm syndrome, Otto lets him go and they continue meeting at school and having sex at home... Fremont literally tries so hard to fix his student but he's literally insane and can't be fixed...

I think Fremont is actually quite emotionally stunted considering how he seems to be the type of person that puts rationality before emotion. He would habe a hard time dealing with this. The whole time he thinks Otto is another puzzle to solve he's just being taken advantage of.

Fremont rejects him and Otto goes crazy. He threatens to cut his thread and Fremont feels fear for the first time.

He develops an unhealthy obsession over Herr Fremont because he only talks to him during recess, lunch and after school. "I...I love Herr Fremont... because you're the only person who cared about me in my entire life..." he confesses to his teacher like this while sweating bullets.

All in all, I hope Rei was able to put down violence as a method to express his masculinity. 💖

The thing i didn't really like was, the connection with masculinity and violence? At first Rei seemed to cling onto his violent self as an indicator for his masculine representation, but in the end after his makeover he seems less violent (maybe) I hope so

In the end he was able to truly forgive his father and let go of his past wounds and fully heal. His new hairstyle caught me off guard at first but with the full context I managed to convince myself it was a good thing for him 🥲

The way rei was denied his masculinity because he was gay really hurt even though that never happened to me, as a lesbian I could still feel the kind of pain he goes through.

I kind of related to him cuz when I was living with my parents I felt like I wasn't allowed to dress the way I wanted to a lot of the time, so I ended up just wearing hoddies and sweatpants all the time. But after living with myself for a while I was able to finally dress how i want .

Even after all those years staying together, his father's words still left a deep scar, as Rei had extremely low self esteem and had trouble expressing his masculinity. It felt like the way he had long hair and emphasis on himself being "a beauty" instead of "handsome" was something that was forced.

Firstly, Rei is a gay man who was traumatized by his shitbag of a father, and felt emasculated by his words. For a long time, he truly believed that he shouldn't be a man of he had urges to be in a relationship with another man. Until he met Towa and Taku, who helped him ease out of that mindset.

I liked it 50/50, for everything that it was, it was an interesting discussion of gender, stereotypes and representation of oneself. However, there are still some things I didn't like at first.
