It looks like all of the men in the photo need some tips on how to stretch properly after a workout.

Oh, I guess a reading of an article or paper wouldn’t be an audiobook?
(I wasn’t disagreeing with your post, just further quibbling with the Stanford guy’s pitch.)

Isn’t this an audiobook? Are “podcasts” supposed to be cooler than “audiobooks”?

oh, I thought you were just proud of something you cooked recently with a good sauce

I remember liking the bit where the giant clown emerges from the parade and walks down the alley. And the subsequent fight where interrupted by different partygoers.

Yeah, $400 increase per month for me for the same plan. I'm taking a moment before I pull the trigger.

Stephen King.
Based on reading It and The Dead Zone, he totally cheated on his wife right? Or she cheated on him? Maybe that's common knowledge.

So, Brandon Sanderson. I really enjoyed Tress and the Emerald Sea. But!....
Nothing. What should I read next? Or does anybody want to take a shot at him?
November 12, 2025 at 1:56 AM
I remember that bit, but arguably it's just a small drop in a sexist ocean.

Hmm, Asimov. What comes to mind is that he had a woman be the one who foiled the Mule. She figured out his identity and shot a scientist before he could reveal the Second Foundation's location. A girl in the next book notes that she is the only hero who acted outside of Seldon's prescience.

(I've only read The Cyberiad, awesome. I especially liked The Seventh Sally.)

May I ask, what's the essential Lem in your opinion?
November 12, 2025 at 1:15 AM
Orson Scott Card, how much of value there?
He was my entry to science fiction/fantasy when I was young. I wonder how much I would cringe to revisit.

I think the people on the bridge were in on Holdo's plan but not everybody on the ship. Maybe Holdo should have told Poe, but I disagree she is more at fault than Poe, since Poe did not tell his plan to Holdo.

Yes, the ramming was spur of the moment.
The failure happened because Poe talked over the communicator (radio?) to Finn and Rose that Holdo was fueling the transports. DJ overheard this and traded the information to the first order.

Ha, thought you meant Tyrion at first.
November 8, 2025 at 6:34 PM
So you disagree with the conventional wisdom that The Last Jedi is great, perhaps the greatest?

I must say, The Living Daylights has floated right to the top of my Bond ranking (of the 19 I've seen). My recommendation if you have the itch to revisit one.
November 8, 2025 at 4:05 PM
Quantum of Solace is quite a called shot. It's generally considered one of the worst (undeservedly in my opinion).
But I'm with you, I've revisited a few times.

When Denton leaps out of the tower with his axe!
October 30, 2025 at 10:35 PM
Ha! That's great.
October 26, 2025 at 2:37 AM
Yes! I'm pretty sure that's confirmed somewhere, Pacino threw that in.
October 26, 2025 at 2:02 AM
I must recommend Collateral (2004, Michael Mann directed, starring Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise) if you haven't seen it.
October 26, 2025 at 1:55 AM
Just did, thank you for the reminder.

(I just want to say that I loved that show, Mr. Robot.)
(Of course that character Vera is both an idiot and comes across much wiser than Ackman.)

Holy shit. Putting poverty that forces a woman to give up a child in the 'pro' column!
