I'm a #MarvelCinematicUniverse fan, yet I just found out there is a cameo of two very prominent Marvel animated characters from the early '90 in "X-Men'94". Makes me wonder if nowaday's unstable success of the MCU is also due to original fans getting older and not having as much free time and focus

Well, if Brandon Sanderson has been working for years on a Mistborn movie, and keeps having Hollywood people telling him to do a 40M Kickstarter campaign, I guess I can survive having ad a story of mine not even qualifying at a contest.

Yesterday I sold my first story in almost a year. Total story sales amounts to 29 now, still I had forgot how it feels.
Today, we toast!

I'm thinking @jamesgunn.bsky.social might be one of the most relevant storytellers of this time because, above all, he understands family

Love "Black Mirror", this season, too, for how sharply it finds the more painful tech-related ideas and brings them to life.
Still hate it, because most of its scripts don't even try to solve the main conflict.
Speculative fiction is about possibility!

I guess you're really a writer when you don't feel threatened anymore by everyone else who writes, or tries to

I though the Internet was full of unrequested, sometimes pointless and sometimes contradicting writing advice.
Then I became a parent and started reading about parenting

When you're like me and you've been submitting stories for 7 years, you start appreciating more the quick rejection markets. Still a rejection, but they let you move on, instead of leaving you hanging for months

I have a story that has been under consideration by a pro market for 500 days, give or take.
Being a SFF writer definitely let you travel through time.

Wow, I just got a rejection for a story that includes feedback about the rejection.
It's a short sentence that makes no sense at all.
And I'm the one that, being ESL, should know English poorly.

I'm old enough to know that, even if I've not written a complete new story in months, I'm still a writer.
I'm aware enough to realize it's OK, I will find time to write again, sooner or later.
It's not painless, oh no

Living in a non-English speaking country brings to eleven the silliness of the comments from aspiring writers.
I had this friend who complained that the "Kenobi" series was poorly acted. After watching it dubbed.
Now, this fellow writer is yelling how he hates Dickens' style--its translation.

A hero capturing the zeitgeist for every generation:

Boomers: Batman (Keaton), Indiana Jones;
Gen X: The Hulk (TV);
Xennials (older millennials): Iron Man;
Younger millennials: Harry Potter, Goku;
Gen Z: ???

What am I missing? What would you change?

I think TV series have started declining when they started having season finales with unsatisfying endings. I understand the need to sell the next season, but if you ask me to follow a story for many hours, and you don't bother closing your plots/arcs, you wasted my time

I subscribed to "Marvel Unlimited", thinking the craziest thing I'll find would Deadpool or something. Instead, I just read a story where Iron Man and Doctor Doom team up to fight a symbiote-controlled Santa Claus.

I understand some small markets can decide to only offer a few bucks for a story.
What I'm less inclined to, is follow their guidelines, when they say "no" to simultaneous submissions.
Leaving a story in a limbo for months is not easy, and sometimes less than smart #writingcommunity
