If you haven't tried So Clover! yet, I'd recommend it. It's all but replaced Just One in our group.

From the GM's point of view, almost all the clues were physical objects, but in the close confines of the setting we mostly wanted to talk to people, not search, and the GM had a hard time placing some of the clues.

Still a great time, and I got to do a commercial break for the first time!

I get why this game has received so much buzz over the past few years, but the lack of an index is inexcusable, and the table of contents is not in any way an adequate substitute.

It could also use more art. What it has is great, but it's pretty sparse.

They located and returned a dangerous Winter Court artifact to the fae realms, and made a deal with a serial killer werewolf to hopefully end their spree.

Everyone claimed to have had a good time, and I was pleased to see my improv skills had not completely atrophied.

It is the main book that I was thinking of. Although it's not the only offender, it is one of the biggest ones.

It had at least one case where I had to follow a chain of "see..."s before actually getting to a page number!

Also, there's never a good reason to use "see..." in a rulebook. Just put the relevant page numbers there. It often takes up less space than referring to a different entry, and even if it doesn't it's a better solution for the person using the index.

Also, proof this sheet before publishing. Doubly so if it wasn't the last thing you did before publishing. Errors here are super common, visible, and confusing.

I also limited myself to books read in the 21st Century, and ones I could recommend, although in non-fiction especially you would need to share some of my specialized interests for me to actually recommend them.

I'm going to have to check out Gold Teeth, but whenever I see TTRPGs and Aubrey-Maturin mentioned together I have to suggest looking up Duty & Honour. My favorite nautical RPG.

Hah! This was exactly my experience as well. I've tuned it a bit since then, but honestly I spend most of my time on Mastodon (not because of Neil...)
