Writing about healthcare and the arts, and occasionally diving deep into fun stuff like kudzu & ticks. Personality that’s a combination all four Golden Girls + Captain Quint from JAWS. Now HQ’d in PNW, makin all my coffee dreams come true. Opinions my own.
Hey @hdtgm.bsky.social - not sure if anyone brought this up, but… belatedly… we just realized upon rewatch that John Carpenter’s #GhostsOfMars includes the same recycled shot of Ice Cube throwing explosives out of the train door. No less than 3 times in a row! Same exact shot!

Music slaps though.

Uh, “antics” is not the word choice I’d have gone with to describe the behavior of one of Epstein’s besties, but hey… you do you @apnews.com.

This also — full disclosure — is a specific look I have encouraged in my husband (especially the mustache). So. Legacy at work.

The view just before my last 101 rowing class this morning. Tis mighty easy to get hooked on starting one’s day this way. I’ll see you soon, dock. Promise. (102 here I come!)

As an antidote to what’s happening in the world, here’s this beautiful polar bear, just living her best life, in the Tacoma zoo last weekend.

No cheating. Your last saved celebrity photo is your therapist. Who is it?

[I’m good taking serious life advice from either of these ladies.]

To all the cats and their dog siblings who are appointed honorary members of the household’s feline majority parliament (pawliament?): happy #caturday

Ok but now I’m kinda wondering if my mom has the inside scoop on a new show about people doing polar bear plunges or something.

Spending the long weekend in Ohio with my centenarian grandmother, who was born at a time when the “horseless carriage” and 20th century fascism were on the rise. Playing scrabble and eating good food with this strong, vivacious lady who has experienced so much change is deeply comforting right now.

Current comfort watch. The one where Q turns all the crew members of the Enterprise into Robin Hood characters. Much needed silly, fun lil brain boost. Also, and this is key: set in another world and time. #startrektng

I genuinely love Terry O’Quinn’s deranged performance in #TheStepfather. (Which we have made our annual #fathersday watch.) He’s part Ned Flanders, part Frank Booth. The best scene is when it is revealed that the police apparently have his old headshot…
(Sound on for my hubs’ improvised narration.)

Tore a calf muscle pretty badly yesterday and need to hobble around for a bit. Husband’s text whilst cane shopping on my behalf: chef’s kiss.

I’ve spent the last week teaching writing workshops at a regional #KennedyCenter American College Theater Festival in NC. It’s been a fun, lively, affirming time watching these young students pour themselves intently into their art. Our team was at dinner when this news hit. The air left the room.

So it turns out that the acclaimed novelist who wrote “Atonement” & “Amsterdam” also wrote the 90s evil kid classic “The Good Son”?

And it’s his BEST work?

(I’m kidding, it’s not. But still makes me giddy when Macaulay Culkin dead-eyes Elijah Wood in the tree house & goes: “Don’t f*** with me.”)
